What happens when you put together a cold and blustery winter (yes it is winter in the Yukon, trust me) day with a clean floor and a half-made quilt?
Two helpers who are more then happy to try out the comfort level of my latest quilt.

And don’t forget to blink….ta-da, it’s finished. Well as much as I could do on the sewing machine at least. I still have to clip the seams and wash and dry the piece but it’s pretty much done! Yay!

This was my October quilt class. We got to choose a rag quilt pattern and mine is Rags and Rails (designed by Ruth Headly of Bears Paw Quilts! - she also taught the class, she is the MOST fun instructor). ( www.bearspawquilts.com )
I have to say, I was really surprised how long this took, and how heavy it got! My poor machine, I really need that plastic table extender for my Bernina (that is a hint by the way, someone tell my hubby ok?).
(edited to add a picture of the fabrics before the cutting began!)

Take care all, and remember to take a moment to remember our soldiers, our veterans who put their lives on the line for us throughout the years, and our soldiers who are still today out there. Thank you.

It’s great! It looks heavy, and I think the clipping is always the hardest part of making one of those! Good luck!

Oh wow, look at that snow. I would be so happy if it didn’t snow all season. No doubt it will arrive sooner than I’m ready.
Gorgeous purple fabrics .. I love the pansies.
My “helpers” are just as helpful.

I had never seen a rag quilt before … yeah, I know, I must live under a rock, ;>) … but I absolutely am blown away by yours, the fabrics are lovely and that ruching effect [which I am going to assume is the rag effect] is just gorgeous. I can’t even imagine -20 temps in November … even though, on very rare occasions, temps in the NYC area dip into the single digit negatives but that is generally in January and February.
Your snowmen ornaments are adorable, too.
I must add that I love your posts on the 123 mb … it adds to my knowledge of Alaska … otherwise I’d have to rely on my memories of 4th grade geography and my dvd collection of Northern Exposure.
